What is HOOKY BUDDIES BLANKET CLUB all about?
A BRAND NEW CROCHET WORKSHOP!
I’m sooooo excited that I’m able to share a brand new Blanket Club for 2020!! If you joined in with Hooky Buddies Cushion Club in 2016 or 2018, you are going to love this new club workshop. We’ll be working on an on trend, chunky design with contrasting pompoms, learning lots of crochet tips and tricks along the way.
I’ll be hosting the first intake for this class in person at Crafty Happenings this March.
WHO IS BLANKET CLUB FOR?
Anyone who’d love a bit of support to make a lazy day lap blanket from start to finish.
If pattern reading still makes you squirm, you have a pile of unfinished projects, you give up on a project when you get stuck and don’t know where to find the answers, if you are terrified by those lengthy, complicated crochet alongs that take 100 hours and six months of your life then I wrote this workshop for you!!
Plus you’ll get two crochet night’s out at Crafty Happenings with your Hooky Buddies, what’s not to love??
SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER BASICS REQUIRED
This project requires basic stitch making and a comfortable hook hold. If you are a novice and have never picked up a hook before, please consider joining my Base Camp beginner’s class in the Autumn term instead!
We’ll be using basic stitches and US Terms: Chain, Slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, front post treble crochet and puff stitch which equate to UK Terms: Chain, Slip stitch, double crochet, treble crochet, front post double treble crochet and puff stitch.
I have easy stitch conversion sheets if you need one.
Still unsure you’ve got what it takes to make this project?
If you haven’t picked up your hook for a while, these repetitive patterns will help boost your hooking again. I will guide you and support you to build your confidence and grow your skills. Lisa will also be on hand with tea, biscuits and crochet tips. We can do this!
PICK 2 COLOURS:
Choose one gorgeous hue for your blanket and add some colourful giant pompoms! Neutral? Neon? Please let me know your choices as soon as possible so I can prepare your kit.
Choosing the right materials for the task… I have put together the perfect kit for this project, using SUPER CHUNKY yarn so you can see the stitches! It’s an affordable and washable acrylic yarn with plenty of bounce and stretch to make stitch making easy for you. All you have to do is pick the colours you’d like and I will pack them up the week before the workshop, ready to start on March 3rd.
BLANKET CLUB MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES:
Access to our secret Facebook group, step by step photo patterns for each step, making your blanket, crocheting in rows for straight edges, front and back loop, puff stitich and front post stitches to add tactile texture to your make. Learning how to make awesome pompoms for your project, fellow Hooky Buddies working on the same project as you, live support and pompom shaking for the duration of your project!
This project can be made from start to finish in a few hours. As a guide, I did it in around 7, but yours may take up to 12 hours. You will have all the yarn, tuition, support and step by step photo patterns you need to help you to complete the project. I have crochet hooks to lend during the sessions or to purchase. We’ll be working in the range of 10 mm and 12 mm hooks, to get even tension. I have individual size hooks for sale for £2.50 each if you need them. Please let me know when you order your kit.
In week one, we’ll start by making the first six rows working front post stitches and practising front and back loop and puff stitches to ensure you are comfortable to continue to complete these at home. I’ll show you some top tips to upgrade your starting chains and how to get straight edges on your rows.
The blanket is designed to include soothingly repetitive stitches to help you relax into your hooking rhythm. The rows repeat from half way through so you’ll be able to work at your own pace and add rows before week two or just work with support over both classes and complete the project the weekend after that.
In week two, we’ll troubleshoot any crochet questions you have and learn how to add fluffy pompoms to give our blankets a fabulous finish! There will be step by step photo patterns and sttich close ups and you’ll get all patterns and materials you need for the project and support with pattern reading during the workshop.
I can’t wait to help you get hooking your own gorgeous blankets!
